HEIKE
BARANOWSKY

Gigur, 2015

Gigur, 2015

The form of a crater was directly dug into the foundry sand, contradicting the usual idea of casting in the foundry for multiplying a certain form. The only positive form left at the end of the casting process is the sculpture itself. This conceptual approach also questions the idea of a finished (perfect) form. The molding sprue, nozzle and runners are not removed but left as part of the sculpture.
